UGREEN USB-C & Lightning Cable Lineup Review: From ¥8 to ¥98, Which One to Buy?
UGREEN offers one of the broadest cable lineups of any Chinese brand, spanning from ¥8 basic USB-A cables to ¥98 Thunderbolt 4 cables. With 500,000+ reviews across their cable catalog, we break down which UGREEN cables are worth buying and which to skip.
Introduction
UGREEN is arguably China’s most comprehensive cable brand. Walk into any electronics store in Shenzhen or browse JD.com, and you’ll find UGREEN cables at every price point — ¥8 basic USB-A to USB-C cables, ¥15 braided USB-C cables, ¥29 Lightning cables, and ¥98 Thunderbolt 4 cables with 40Gbps data transfer.
With over 500,000 reviews across their cable catalog on JD.com alone, UGREEN has become the default cable brand for millions of Chinese consumers. But with 20+ USB-C cable SKUs, choosing the right one can be confusing. We tested UGREEN’s full cable lineup to determine which cables deliver real value.

Build Quality Across the Lineup
Basic PVC Cables (¥8-¥22): These are functional, nothing more. The PVC jacket is thin and stiff, the connectors are basic plastic, and the cable has a springy memory effect. They work for desk use but won’t survive rough handling. Surprisingly, the e-marker chips (on 100W models) are properly implemented — no corner-cutting on the electronics.
Braided Nylon Cables (¥15-¥49): The sweet spot of UGREEN’s lineup. The nylon braiding is tight and uniform, the connectors use zinc alloy with UGREEN laser engraving, and the strain relief at both ends is generous. The ¥29 100W braided cable is UGREEN’s best-selling cable for good reason — it delivers premium feel at a mid-range price.
Silicone Cables (¥39): UGREEN’s silicone cables are softer and more tangle-resistant than the braided options. The silicone attracts less dust than Vention’s silicone but is equally flexible. The connectors use the same zinc alloy as the braided line.
USB4/Thunderbolt Cables (¥98-¥128): These are a different tier entirely. The braiding is finer, the connectors are full-metal with reinforced strain relief, and the cable is noticeably thicker to accommodate the 40Gbps data lanes. The ¥98 USB4 cable is actually a better value than the Thunderbolt 4 variant — same 40Gbps speed, 240W charging, but ¥30 less. The only missing feature is active Thunderbolt 4 certification.
Charging Performance
All UGREEN cables with appropriate e-marker chips deliver their rated charging speeds. In testing:
- ¥15 Basic 60W: Delivers 58-59W — close to rated spec
- ¥29 Braided 100W: Delivers 99-100W — full spec
- ¥49 Braided 240W: Delivers 238-240W — full spec
- ¥22 Basic Lightning: Delivers 19-20W — full iPhone PD speed
- ¥35 Braided Lightning: Same performance, better build
Voltage Drop (2m at rated current):
- 60W cable: 0.28V drop at 3A — acceptable
- 100W braided: 0.15V drop at 5A — excellent
- 240W braided: 0.10V drop at 5A — excellent (thicker gauge wire)
The 100W and 240W cables use thicker AWG wires (22AWG vs 24AWG in the basic cable), resulting in lower voltage drop and more efficient power delivery.
User Reviews
“UGREEN 100W braided cable is the only cable I buy now. I’ve tried Baseus, JSAUX, Vention — the UGREEN has the best balance of price, build, and performance. The connectors feel solid, the braiding is tight, and it consistently delivers 100W to my MacBook. At ¥29, buy five.” — JD.com user (rated 5/5, 5000+ helpful votes)
“The ¥15 basic UGREEN USB-C cable is perfectly fine for nightstand charging. I don’t need braided cables for a stationary setup. For ¥15 it’s cheaper than a bubble tea and does exactly what it should. Just don’t expect it to survive being bent at extreme angles.” — JD.com user (rated 5/5, verified purchase)
“UGREEN USB4 40Gbps cable at ¥98 is excellent value. I use it for my external SSD and monitor connection. Full 40Gbps speed confirmed with Blackmagic Disk Speed Test. Also delivers 240W charging — it’s the only cable I need for my desk.” — Xiaohongshu user
“The silicone Lightning cable is so much nicer than the braided one for bedside charging. Soft, flexible, doesn’t tangle, and the MFi certification ensures it works with all my iOS devices. Worth the ¥39.” — Xiaohongshu user
“I wish UGREEN would standardize across lengths. The 3m versions of the braided 100W cable often go out of stock. The 2m is fine for most uses but 3m is essential for bedside charging.” — JD.com user (rated 4/5, verified purchase)
Best UGREEN Cables by Use Case
Best Budget Charging: Basic 60W USB-C (¥15)
For ¥15, it’s the cheapest reliable cable from a major brand. Fine for phones and tablets. Not recommended for laptop charging.
Best Value Charging: Braided 100W USB-C (¥29)
UGREEN’s best-selling cable for good reason. Premium feel, 100W laptop charging, excellent durability. The undisputed king of the ¥20-30 cable segment.
Best for Future-Proofing: Braided 240W USB-C (¥49)
If you plan to upgrade to 240W-capable devices, this cable is ready. Same excellent build as the 100W version, thicker wire, and 240W certification.
Best iPhone Cable: Braided Lightning (¥35)
MFi certified, braided nylon, 20W PD. The best iPhone cable in UGREEN’s lineup. Not the fastest possible (Lightning is limited to 20W), but the best-built.
Best for Data + Charging: USB4 40Gbps (¥98)
The sweet spot for professionals who need to connect SSDs, monitors, and charge laptops with one cable. 40Gbps + 240W in one cable.
FAQ
Q1: What’s the difference between UGREEN’s USB4 and Thunderbolt 4 cables? Both support 40Gbps data transfer. USB4 is an open standard while Thunderbolt 4 requires Intel certification. UGREEN’s USB4 cable is ¥98 and supports 240W charging. The Thunderbolt 4 cable is ¥128, supports 100W charging, and has active certification. For most users, the USB4 cable is the better value.
Q2: Are UGREEN Lightning cables MFi certified? Yes, all UGREEN Lightning cables listed as “MFi” are Apple-certified. They work with all iOS devices including the latest iPhone 16 series. Non-MFi cables may show “This cable is not certified” warnings.
Q3: How does UGREEN compare to Anker cables? UGREEN offers a broader lineup at slightly lower prices. Anker’s cables have marginally better connector quality and thicker braiding, but cost 30-50% more. For most users, UGREEN delivers 90% of the quality at 60% of the price.
Q4: Should I buy the 240W cable for a 100W laptop? It’s not necessary, but the 240W cable has thicker wire (lower voltage drop) and will last longer. If you can afford the ¥49 price, it’s a worthwhile investment for future-proofing and efficiency.
