Ethernet Performance

Speed Test Results (1000Mbps connection):

  • UGREEN Revodok 5-in-1: 945Mbps down / 935Mbps up — excellent
  • Baseus 4-in-1: 938Mbps / 925Mbps — very good
  • SSK 5-in-1: 920Mbps / 910Mbps — good
  • Vention 3-in-1: 94Mbps / 92Mbps (100Mbps Ethernet — NOT Gigabit)
  • ORICO 4-in-1: 925Mbps / 918Mbps — good
  • JSAUX 5-in-1: 940Mbps / 930Mbps — very good

Note: The Vention 3-in-1 is the only model with 100Mbps Ethernet — a significant limitation in 2026. At ¥49 it’s cheap, but 100Mbps max speed means large downloads and high-quality video calls will be capped. We recommend avoiding sub-Gigabit Ethernet hubs.

Ping Stability (30-minute test to gaming server):

  • All Gigabit models (UGREEN, Baseus, SSK, ORICO, JSAUX): 2-3ms average, 0.5ms jitter — excellent
  • Vention 100Mbps: 3-4ms average, 1ms jitter — acceptable but not ideal for gaming

Chipset: Most Gigabit hubs use the Realtek RTL8153 or RTL8156B controller. These are well-supported on Windows, macOS, iPadOS, and ChromeOS. Driverless plug-and-play on modern systems. The Vention uses an older chipset (likely AX88179) which still works but is limited to 100Mbps.

Charging Pass-Through

For desk setups, PD pass-through is critical — it means the hub charges your laptop while providing Ethernet and USB connectivity.

UGREEN Revodok 5-in-1 (100W PD): Best in class. Passes through 100W with only 5W loss — laptop gets 95W. Works with MacBook Pro 16 at full speed.

JSAUX 5-in-1 (100W PD): Comparable to UGREEN. Passes through 95-97W to connected laptop. The only model that matches UGREEN’s PD capability.

SSK 5-in-1 (60W PD): Adequate for MacBook Air (needs 30-35W) or iPad Pro (needs 30W), but insufficient for MacBook Pro 14/16 at full speed.

ORICO 4-in-1 (60W PD): Same limitation as SSK — good for light laptops, insufficient for power users.

Baseus 4-in-1 (No PD): No charging pass-through. This is a significant limitation for desk use. You’d need a separate charger for your laptop.

Vention 3-in-1 (No PD): Also no pass-through. Designed as a travel adapter, not a desk hub.

User Reviews

“UGREEN Revodok 5-in-1 is the perfect hub for my office desk. HDMI for my monitor, Ethernet for stable video calls, USB-A for my keyboard/mouse, and PD charging for my MacBook Pro. At ¥89, it’s the cheapest way to get all these features in one compact hub.” — JD.com user (rated 5/5, 4000+ helpful votes)

“Don’t buy the Vention 3-in-1 if you need real internet speed. 100Mbps Ethernet is a joke in 2026. Fine for web browsing but useless for downloads or video calls. Spend the extra ¥20 for a Gigabit hub. The UGREEN and JSAUX are the only ones worth considering.” — JD.com user (rated 3/5, verified purchase)

“SSK 5-in-1 is decent for the price (¥69). Ethernet is stable, HDMI works at 4K@30Hz (not 60Hz — important for monitor users). 60W PD pass-through is limiting — my MacBook Pro 14 can’t charge at full speed through it. Fine for MacBook Air users.” — Xiaohongshu user

“Baseus Ethernet hub without PD pass-through is a strange omission in 2026. I have to plug my laptop charger directly into the laptop AND connect the hub for Ethernet. Two cables instead of one. The hub itself works fine but the lack of PD kills its desk utility.” — JD.com user (rated 3/5, verified purchase)

Category Winners

Best Overall: UGREEN Revodok 5-in-1 (¥89)

Gigabit Ethernet, 4K@60Hz HDMI, USB 3.0, and 100W PD pass-through in one compact hub. The best balance of features, performance, and price.

Best Budget Gigabit: SSK 5-in-1 (¥69)

Gigabit Ethernet at ¥69 — the cheapest entry point for wired networking. The 60W PD is limiting but acceptable for MacBook Air and iPad users.

Best Simple Ethernet: Baseus 4-in-1 (¥79)

If you only need Ethernet + USB-A (no HDMI, no PD), the Baseus is a well-built option. 3× USB-A ports are useful for peripherals.

FAQ

Q1: Do I need Gigabit Ethernet in 2026? If you have internet speeds above 100Mbps (most Chinese fiber connections are 300Mbps+), yes. Gigabit Ethernet ensures your internet connection isn’t bottlenecked by the hub. For video conferencing and large file transfers, Gigabit is essential.

Q2: Will these hubs work with iPad Pro? Yes. UGREEN, JSAUX, SSK, and ORICO hubs work with iPad Pro (USB-C) and iPad Air (M1+). iPadOS supports external displays, Ethernet, and USB peripherals through hubs. Check for specific iPadOS version compatibility for Ethernet — most work since iPadOS 16+.

Q3: Can I use an Ethernet hub for gaming? Yes. The UGREEN and JSAUX hubs have the lowest latency (2-3ms ping), making them suitable for online gaming. The 100W PD pass-through means your gaming laptop can charge at full speed.

Q4: Do these hubs support wake-on-LAN? UGREEN and JSAUX support WoL (Wake-on-LAN) — a useful feature for remote desktop access. SSK and ORICO do not support WoL. Check product specifications before purchasing if this matters to you.

Buying Advice

Best Desk Solution (~$12): UGREEN Revodok 5-in-1 (¥89). HDMI + Ethernet + USB-A + PD. One cable does everything.

Budget (~$9.50): SSK 5-in-1 (¥69). Good for MacBook Air users who need basic Ethernet + charging.

Avoid: Vention 3-in-1 (100Mbps — too slow) and Baseus 4-in-1 (no PD pass-through — limits desk use).
